The Secret Garden by Liberty

A magical new collection, alive with vivid colour and varied textures has been created by Liberty Art Fabrics Interiors. It is called ‘The Secret Garden Collection’ after Burnett’s 1911 literary masterpiece. Liberty’s small in-house design team took inspiration from this classic book to create a full collection of Vintage Velvets, Ramie Voiles, Heavy Cotton Linens, Cotton Satins and Linen Silks. Their innovative design process included squashing and hammering flowers to release their natural colours, dip dyeing items like tassels and painting onto leaves, all to get the best colours and textures and thereby developing a unique look to reflect the mystery of the novel. I love the sheers and the way the light filters through, changing the colours and making patterns on the floor, but a special mention has to go to the velvets, it’s impossible to resist these luxurious patterned vintage velvets, I just want to curl up between them and live inside the Liberty world forever.

Glam up white Chrysanthemums – Friday Flowers

Chrysanthemums often get a raw deal as they are seen as inexpensive, too commonly available and ‘fillers’ for bouquets. All of those points being true of course, but looking at the positive side, as they are available from just about everywhere at any time of year, you can still have fresh flowers in your home. These white ones was leftover from a bigger bunch of mixed flowers and they lasted the longest. So when the other ‘hero-blooms’ died off, I kept these white chrysanthemums, cut them short and put them in a collection of small silver tea light holders on a mirrored tray. Not bad for a dark January display!

Ceramic Tales from Finnsdottir

Scandinavian brand Finnsdottir Ceramic Tales, are known for their beautiful ceramics. Everyday objects that have been revamped and redesigned and brought to life in soft muted colours like sludgy greys and sage greens and with little, simple design details like spots or groves, that gives them a designer-edge and a type of fragility that is associated with artisan pieces. This exclusive brand is now available from Nordic Elements, the one-stop-shop for all things designer from our Nordic and Scandi friends. My favourite has to be the delicate shapely lamp shades, I love their fragile appearance, like they might break if you just breath next to them.

Fabulous Faux Succulents

January in the northern hemisphere is usually a pretty dull time of year. All the festivities are over, new years resolutions get broken on a daily basis and everyone’s pockets are as empty as can be. All the gardens are dead and foliage are few and far between. So I was delighted to stumble across these fabulous faux succulents from Nordic House. Believe me, I am no fan of artificial flowers, however, these cuties impressed me so much. Being succulents, they lend themselves to being fake and these are excellent reproductions of the real thing, they totally get away with it.

Painterly Cushion Canvas by Amy Sia

It is clear to see why these boldly coloured cushions are such a must-have for the new season. Designed by London based, Australian accessory designer Amy Sia, this cushion collection shows off Amy’s wonderful use of colour and her signature painterly style. The fluidness of Amy’s designs reminds of coloured inks bleeding and water coloured brushstrokes that have just been left to blend into their own patterns. This collection, her third, is called, “Aegean”, and was inspired by her recent travels to the Caribbean and Mediterranean. “I’ve been lucky enough to travel a bit last year and have been influenced by the beautiful colours and landscapes around, including the tropical colours aqua, yellow, tangerine of the Caribbean (Turks and Caicos), the bold blues and magentas of the Greek Islands (Naxos and Santorini) washed out pastels of Cinque Terre.” says Amy.

Red & Purple bouquet

Most of us here in the UK own something from Lakeland, probably a kitchen gadget of sorts, but I bet not many have had the pleasure of receiving a fresh bunch of flowers by them. Lakeland.co.uk has a great range of bouquets and a speedy delivery service, oder before 6pm for free next day delivery. This gorgeous red and purple winter bouquet was sent to me and I was so impressed. Lakeland have just launched their Spring inspired ranges and they are all gorgeous, below are a few of my favourites.

Lakeland fresh floral bouquetThe amaryllis was still in bud and opened beautifully over time becoming the focal point of the bouquet. I love seeing the purple agapanthus that reminds me of South African gardens and my childhood home. The Thistle and red Alix berries adds a harder, modern edge and a bit of a boutique florist flair with it.
